Trials
Our lawyers have a great deal of trial experience. Harvey Brown, Howard Close, and Tom Wright are all experienced trial lawyers. Each is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Trial or Personal Injury Trial Law. Andy Love, Tod Phillips, and Kathleen Rose have handled serious and complex cases for many years. In addition, Harvey Brown is routinely retained by other lawyers and firms in assisting them with pre-trial matters involving expert witnesses, among other issues.
Appeals
Attention to the appeal starts in the trial court, preferably before the trial begins. While the trial lawyer focuses on winning the jury verdict, the appellate lawyer has an eye towards the appeal. The appellate lawyer can help the trial lawyer stay focused by taking responsibility for the law aspects of the trial, including pre-trial motions, petitions for mandamus relief, research on special evidence problems, and the critical work on the court’s charge to the jury. We do all of this, in addition to consulting with or handling the post-verdict motions and the appeal itself.
Mike Choyke, Russ Hollenbeck and Tom Wright are Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Alternative Dispute Resolution
Harvey Brown served as a district court judge in Harris County for six years. Since leaving the bench in 2002, Harvey has put this experience to work as a mediator and an arbitrator in more than 100 cases.
